Solo snowshoeing.
I started this hike at 8:45 am in snowy, but mild conditions (around 0 degrees celsius). The forecast was for a mix of sun clouds and fortunately there was more sun than cloud. The hike up to the pass was moderately interesting - dense forest covered most of the views. At the pass it was not much better, however, I continued towards the unnamed peak at GR 380492 and the view increased dramatically. As the pass sits on the very east edge of the Rocky Mountain range, directly east were the foothills and to the west were the Rockies. Also, there was a good view of the long ridge walk towards Mount Baldy. I made it about a third of the way up the unnamed peak, but decided to back out when the deep snow became a concern. Descent time was a mere 1 hour 20 minutes. Overall, I very much enjoyed this hike and will definitely return to complete the summit.

Scrambling with Mark.
Starting at 9 am, it took us 1 hour, 5 minutes to make it to Baldy Pass, where we opted to head left (north) towards the south peak of Mount Baldy. An hour of interesting hiking and scrambling took us to the first summit, before the south peak. We tried to stay right on the ridge, which gave us a chance to do some hands-on scrambling and climbing, as opposed to hiking up the trail to the left of the ridge.
From the first summit, the trek to Mount Baldy looked quite difficult, but we decided to try it. We were wrong, and in fact it was easier than the trip from Baldy Pass to the first summit. Again we took the opportunity to leave the trail and to do some hands-on scrambling. An hour later we arrived at Mount Baldy's south peak. There, we had great views of the west and the popular north peaks and also of the mountains to the southwest (Mount Allan, Ribbon Peak, etc.). On a clear day the view would have been spectacular. The descent took us 2 hours. Next time, we will probably continue the traverse all the way to the north peak of Mount Baldy and down that side of the mountain (2 km walk back to the car).

Hiking with Stuart, David, and Eric.
A clear, but very hot day. A higher, more ambitious scramble would have been better. We made it to Baldy Pass in 50 minutes, took a break and then proceeded south, up the unnamed peak - a tedious and unfriendly trip up a rubble slope. At the top, the views were great - Wasootch Ridge, Sparrowhawk, The Fortress, Allan, and many more. We had lunch and then returned to the car. Except for the company (and a fun game of hacky-sack in the parking lot at the end of the hike), this was probably the least satisfying trip to date. Going left at the pass towards Mount Baldy is a far more interesting and exciting scramble. I probably won't be returning to this peak.
