Scrambling with Mark.

Mount Cory is a fairly long trip and strenuous trip in the snow-free summer months, however, it was downright grueling in several feet of snow. It had also become one of my favourite and most rewarding trips. The first two hours were clear and snow-free. The scenery changed dramatically upon reaching the start of the long ridge. The deep snow made travel slow and although we had our snowshoes, we didn't use them because of the steepness of some sections. We didn't quite make it to the true summit, as the final strech of the ridge walked looked a little too dangerous (large cornices). After ascending a dangerous snow slope of about 70 degrees, we decided not to push our luck and turned around just before the summit. The winter scenery throughout the scramble was breath-taking.

Perfect conditions at the beginning: clear skies, no snow

The higher we got, the more snow there was
