Scrambling with Colleen.

Mount Fairview is a very scenic and easy hike. On a clear day, the view of the surrounding peaks is terrific and that's exactly what we got. The 3.7 km trail to Saddleback Pass was easy, if not inspiring. At the pass, however, the scenery opened up with amazing views of the snow-covered north face of Temple, Haddo Peak, and the non-scrambling side of Sheol. From the pass, a trail took us easily to the summit, where we were greeted by 4 other early-birds and a stunning view. Most notable in the panorama were Mounts Victoria, Leroy, Aberdeen. Across the lake, Piran,

Niblock, and Whyte were also a welcome sight and further north, Mount Daly and the immense Bath Glacier were awesome.

On the way down, we passed at least 25-30 people, all making their way to the Fairview summit (it was about to get very crowded up there!). Upon reaching the bottom we decided to end an already wonderful day with a relaxing and scenic canoe ride across Lake Louise. Regardless of how many times you see this lake, with Mount

Victoria and its glacier overlooking the water, it never ceases to amaze you with its stunning beauty.

Hiking and snowshoeing with Mark.

I really enjoyed the scenery throughout this trip last summer, but this May's winter version was absolutely breath-taking and infinitely more scenic. The views of Mount Temple and Haddo were stunning and at the summit, clouds over Mount Victoria made for one of the most spectacular winter scenes I'm sure we will ever be witness to (see the photo on the title page and in the photo gallery).

During the summer this mountain is an easy 2 hour hike - it's a completely different story in winter conditions and was a grueling ascent with snowshoes. Of course, the upside of the tremendous snow-cover was a rapid descent on Crazy Carpets. This was definitely one of our most memorable days in the mountains.

One of my favourite scenes in the mountains; a wintery view of Haddo Peak; compare this to the summer picture above

Success!

Mark at the summit, with Mount Victoria behind; with the wind chill it was brutally cold

The fastest and most fun way to descend - Crazy Carpets; when there's snow..... we never leave home without them!
