  • Elevation gain: 1,100 m

Solo scramble.

Observation Peak is a terrific trip. The scrambling is very easy (although you do have the option to take more challenging routes if you want), the scenery is magnificent throughout, and the summit panorama is phenomenal. Pray for clear skies when you do this scramble and you won't be disappointed.

Peyto Lake, as seen from Observation Peak's ascent slope; Caldron Peak and the Waputik Icefield lie behind the lake

Interesting rock scenery on the way up

Bow Lake and more peaks of the Waputik Icefield

The remains of Observation Peak's extensive cornice; even at this time of the year, much of the cornice remained, posing a significanrt danger if you ventured out onto it
