Hiking with Mark.

If you are looking for an exciting adventure with death-defying and bone-chilling thrills, don't hike up Pigeon Mountain! It's a very nice and (eventually) scenic hike, however, I could have probably went blindfolded and barefooted and still made the summit unscathed. Having said that, I would still do the hike again, just for the scenery. After failing to make a summit in each of the previous two weeks, we both needed a hike with guaranteed success - we certainly picked the right one.

The panorama from the top was very nice, taking in everything in the Bow Valley

area from Mount McGillivray to Cascade Mountain. Wind Ridge and the Three Sisters were especially interesting.

On descent we decided to take a detour to the lower summit. It was a good choice, turning out to be the most interesting part of the day. The shaley rock formations were very cool and made for some good photo opportunities. Overall, a good day and a good hike.
