Solo scramble.

I really enjoyed the Sheol scramble. From the trail to the summit, the scramble was very similar to Mount Whymper - a long avalanche gully, followed by rockbands all the way to the summit. Thankfully, the ascent was easier and shorter than Whymper's and I didn't even knock any rocks onto to someone's head (Mark taking one off the noggin' on Whymper!).

The scenery on and around the mountain was great throughout - interesting rock formations, bands, and towers and nice views of the Lake Annette, the north face of Temple, Pinnacle, Eiffel, and massive Mount Hungabee. Upon reaching the ridge, I was a little confused as to where the summit was. It appeared that the highest point was a large pinnacle to my left, however, Kane's description put it at the end of the ridge to the right. I went right, where I found a cairn, the register, and beautiful views in all directions. Deltaform and other mountains of the Valley of the Ten Peaks now dominated Eiffel and Pinnacle Mountain, but shapely Haddo Peak stole the scene.

After a short stay at the summit, I decided to see if I could scramble up to the other summit further west. It looked quite difficult, however, after a little searching, I found a fun route up that involved some good hands-on scrambling. The view from this second summit was pretty much the same as the first, except now Mount Aberdeen could by seen, behind Haddo Peak. The descent was easy, though the extreme heat was causing me to lose energy rapidly. Another good scramble and another great day!
