Tent Ridge Horseshoe
Hiking with Mark, Stuart, and Jenny. The weather was absolutely perfect throughout this extremely scenic hike- clear sky, and warm, with a light wind. After about an hour of bushwhacking and following numerous trails we finally found the start of the ridge. Everything from there was straightforward and easy and the scenery was unmatched. At the first summit we had spectacular views of Commonwealth, Pig's Tail, Birdwood, The Fist, Smuts, Engadine, The Tower, Galatea, and Chester, as well as French, Robertson, and Sir Douglas in the distance, to the south. Lingering snow on the peaks with a couple of huge cornices on some mountains added to the incomparable view. The second summit brought us very close to The Fist and its col with Smuts. If we had had more time, we might have made the relatively short ridge traverse to that col. However, we settled for going a little ways onto the ridge for some good photo opportunities. Our final reward for the trip was a view of the great Mount Assiniboine, as we approached the final summit (Tent Ridge). Total time was a slow 6 hours, 15. Overall, a good hike with unbelievable views and many possible variations. Well worth the effort!
