Scrambling with Mark.

The Wedge is a terrific, little scramble that can be done in the relatively short  amount of time. The approach, along a well-worn trail, actually takes more time than does the scrambling. The scramble from the base to the north summit was enjoyable and took no time at all. The view from here would have been great were it not for the forest fire smoke obscuring more distant peaks, like Assiniboine and Joffre.

The traverse to the true summit was also very enjoyable. The ridge was narrow at times, with some terrific drop-offs and cliffs on the right, but was only exposed in one place. Again, at the summit, there is a surprisingly wonderful panorama in all directions.

The descent was dead easy and since we had some time to spare, we practiced rappelling.

Rappelling practice; notice the extra rope - we take no chances!
