Three Sister's Pass

  • February 10, 2002
  • Elevation gain: 591m
  • 6 km round trip

Snowshoeing with Mark and Keri. Overcast when we started, but sunny and clear when we got to the pass. Very scenic with varied terrain and landscape. The final hour up a scree slope was unexpectedly strenuous and took far longer than we thought it would (we ditched our snowshoes for this part). The pass was outstanding - great views of the Three Sisters, Lawrence Grassi, Canmore and Grotto. Mark almost took a major fall when he stepped out onto a cornice and it gave way - it could have been extremely serious or fatal. An outstanding trip (except Mark's near-death experience!).
