The Number Grid has been designed primarily as an aid to learning the times tables and we have set up the activities accordingly (2, 5, 10, 3-4, 6-9) although the final activity (random addition) demonstrates that, by using soft-coded parameters, the grid can be used creatively for other arithmetic activities.
To enter the answers in the grid you may type using either set of keyboard digits (remember to have Num Lock on for the right-hand set) Each input box, by default, is designed to contain a 2-digit number. Keying more digits will just wrap around, allowing errors to be simply over-typed. Alternatively the back-space key is enabled.
To enter a 3-digit number, hold down CTRL while typing.
If you finish before the time runs out, press the 'tick' button to get your work marked. Alternatively, this will occur when the time has expired. Your work will then be marked and the results will appear in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. In phase 2 of this project we intend to capture the results for each pupil which teachers or parents can subsequently download.
