This activity is designed to allow children to practise reading large numbers and converting them into a number sentence. To avoid testing their typing skills rather than their ability to translate numbers to words, we've gone for a drag-and-drop approach. Position the mouse cursor over the required word from the grid and click once (and release). You should then be able to drag the word into the sentence-builder bar below. Once there, click again to release the word. Repeat this exercise until the required number sentence has been built. For subsequent words, notice the position bar to show you where the word will be placed relative to existing words. If you need to remove a word from the sentence bar, just click and drag it into a space. When you've finally made the correct number sentence, it will explode (with sound effect!) and the next number will be presented. If a number is too dofficult, just press NEXT to skip it. Finally, when the time runs out or you press STOP, the results will be presented in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
You'll notice that we currently support two formats for displaying the larger number: free and boxed. Once again your feedback as to which one is preferable or whether both are useful would be much appreciated.
